                                                                   Cindy Lou Who.

After more than two years without any dogs, this little sweetheart fell into our lives.  We didn't want another dog.  We lived in an apartment and our cat, Manny, was enough to satisfy our need for a pet.  Or so we thought.

A post on Nextdoor caught my attention.  Someone had a year old Pug puppy they wanted to rehome.   Pug Daddy was asleep, so I waited until he woke up, about an hour later, to tell him about the Nextdoor post and ask him if he was interested.  He said it wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Long story short, the gentleman who had the Pug came to our house with her and found we were acceptable Pug parents, so let us adopt her.  She is now the center of our lives.

Saddest Season

I hate reporting bad news. It's so hard to talk.

August 31, 2016 we lost our Pug Princess, MissyLu.  There was no warning. She seemed perfectly healthy. She went out on the Poop deck to tend to her business and five minutes later Mom looked out and MissyLu was lying on her side, her tongue hanging out. Mom freaked out, ran out and grabbed her up screaming for Dad. By the time Mom got to the kitchen where Dad was, MissyLu was gone.

Mom went hysterical with the shock and grief.  Never saw such goings on. Doesn't Mom know that MissyLu is now with me at Rainbow Bridge? And just as snooty as ever, I might add. We'll all be waiting for you, Mom.

And now for part two of the saddest season.

Hooter, aka Hoot Mon, has also come to the Bridge.  It's getting crowded here!  Hooter's departure wasn't a shock, 'cause he had a big old spindle cell carcinoma all around his lower jaw. Mom had been hand feeding him, making dog food soup for him and doing her best to keep him going. Time came when he couldn't get enough food down, even with all Mom's effort.  And we all know that food is a HUGE part of quality of life for a Pug.  The hard decision to let Hoot go was made and September 28, 2016 he came to join us.

Hooter has joined his brother, Pippin, in the pet cemetery along with all the rest of us; BJPug, myself, MsPogie and even a couple of cats.  MissyLu is not there, though. The old folks had her cremated and put her in a gold urn that sits right on the fireplace mantle.

                                                          Can you believe it?

Buddy and Chloe

Here are Buddy and Chloe. They be the watchdogs.

Another year gone. No losses in the pet population this year in spite of Muffin's surgeries. Mom thinks there was a misdiagnosis going on there.

Christmas approaches with Dad doing his usual Santa routines.

Mason's family announced a possibility of publishing a book of Mason's blogs. I'm looking forward to it. See "Summer Pugs" on my favorites links.

Mom had Thanksgiving dinner with Fred C, Fred D and Michelle. Not gonna do the holiday dinners with the Carl 'cause he has resentments. Big Phooey there. Sad.

New Year

Bye Bye, 2014. I already mentioned that cat Liberace died. Dunno if he came to the Bridge; I haven't seen any cats here.

Pippin is here. He came to be with me December 16th, 2014. Total surprise to Mom as the Pip had been happy and frisky the day before. She heard a sound & woke up about 1AM. She went to the kitchen and found Pippin taking his last breath. He was only 10 1/2 years old. .

And now there are only six. Muffin is on twice daily meds for his seizures. Hooter is still too heavy and has problems with his hind legs. Chloe is getting very gray around her face, but then, she's getting on for a Great Dane. Rough times for Buddy when there are fireworks, thunderstorms or someone shooting off guns. He has a Thundershirt and mom gives him calmative tablets, but they don't work 100%. .

                                                        MissyLu, "The Princess"

                                                               Hooter and Muffin
Gracie, The Rat Terrier didn't want to have her picture taken & stayed curled up snoozing in her bed.

And that's the clan at the moment.  Mom says no more pets 'cause she's too old & doesn't want to worry about how her furkids would be taken care of when she dies. Mom misses me a lot.

View from the Bridge

Ok, we know it is all imaginary. Nevertheless, here's the news. Liberace, the only cat to survive the wildfire Sept. 2011, has died. Muffin, the shelter rescue has begun having seizures & is on medications. The Pug Bros, Pippin and Hooter are doing well. MissyLu, the Pug Princess is well and still ruling the roost. Buddy, the mixed breed, is turning into a total "nervous norvus." Chloe the Great Dane is doing well. Mom loves us all.

Catching up just a bit

Long time gone since my last post. Hard to keep up with all that's gone and going on. Rebuilding after the fire, my deafness and blindness progressing. I keep on keepin' on as best I can. Lost my online pal, Mason. He was about my age. Can't do much of anything for long these days. Mom keeps up with the cuddles. I still love my food.
